Resumen
La Malaria se caracteriza por ser una enfermedad febril sistémica, la cual es producto de la infección por una de las 6 especies de Plasmodium, que es trasmitida hacia los humanos a través de la picadura de los mosquitos del género Anopheles, de la familia Culicidae, dicha picadura se produce generalmente entre el anochecer y el amanecer. Esta patología ocurre en la mayoría de las regiones tropicales alrededor del mundo, contando con altas tasas de incidencia a nivel global, que a pesar de que ha demostrado tener una tendencia a la baja en los últimos años, continúa siendo un problema de salud pública en las regiones endémicas.
