Abstract
Delirium in the elderly is a common complication observed in elderly patients, it can be classified into three types according to the level of alertness and physical activity of the patient, these are hyperactive, hypoactive and mixed. All patients manifested primarily by altered state of consciousness and lack of attention. To diagnose it, the diagnostic criteria of the diagnostic and statiscal manual of mental disorders are used in its fifth edition. Initial management is based on pharmacological and no pharmacological treatment.
