Resumen
El síndrome de Budd-Chiari se cataloga dentro de las enfermedades poco frecuentes, con una incidencia de 0.45 por cada millón de personas. Consiste en una obstrucción al flujo venoso hepático que obedece a múltiples etiologías, más comúnmente a una trombosis venosa, generando una congestión hepática con aumento de presión venosa portal, produciendo así fibrosis y eventualmente falla hepática. Su manejo se orienta en revertir la obstrucción, mejorado el flujo sanguíneo y la perfusión para preservar la función del órgano.
