Abstract
Medication overuse headache is a secondary headache that develops in the context of inadequate and excessive use of analgesic medication for treating primary headaches such as migraine and tensional headache. This leads to a rise of morbidity and chronification of the initial headache with an increase of pain crisis, consequently this provokes an analgesic medication intake rises and frustration spiral both for the patient and the physician. The initial suppression and posterior control of analgesic medication, the inclusion, and the adherence of a preventive treatment for the primary headache and the constant education to the patient are the treatment foundations.
