Abstract
Subacute thyroiditis or de Quervain thyroiditis is an inflammatory disease of the thyroid characterized by its triphasic course that includes a phase of excessive release of thyroid hormone. This entity usually has a self-limited course and its management is mainly symptomatic. This article presents the case of a 32-year-old male patient, without previous medical history, with a 10-day course of anterior neck pain and symptoms consistent with thyrotoxicosis. Subsequently, the increase in thyroid hormone levels in the blood was confirmed and he received conservative management with symptomatic treatment. At 12-month follow-up, the patient presents with normal thyroid function and is completely asymptomatic.
