Abstract

Gestational diabetes is an no committable chronic disease, that first presents itself during pregnancy. It is an affection, that if not early uptake, it could have adverse effects in the fetus and mother. There are various risk factors, standing out obesity and insulin resistance, among others. However, during past years, it has been a debate of different early screening methods about gestational diabetes, all of them aiming to avoid fetal-maternal complications, which continues to have a big impact in world health. A large percentage of women with gestational diabetes could be detected early, depending on the criteria and strategy used. Nevertheless, there´s not enough evidence that provides early screening criteria for gestational diabetes. This article will proceed to perform a bibliographic review about one or two steps methods as gestational diabetes screening.
