Abstract
Headache is one of the main reasons for consultation in health services, and its frequency increases with reproductive age and even can be disabling. Pregnancy is now considered by itself a warning sign in headaches. These can be primary or secondary causes, the former being the most frequent. However, during pregnancy there are secondary causes that become more important, so it should be important to know how to recognize each of them. The diagnosis is clinical, based on a good anamnesis and a good physical examination. Imaging studies should be sent only when they are really warranted, as they are cost effective and slow the diagnosis. The therapeutic approach is always a challenge in this group of patients, since care should be taken not to cause fetal damage. There are no category A drugs for this specific pathology, and the most recommended pharmacological treatment measure is the use of acetaminophen, although non-pharmacological measures are also important.
