Abstract
Worldwide, cervical cancer is the third most common cancer among women, the risk factor is Human papillomavirus (HPV) but it is not a sufficient cause for the development of cervical cancer, Screening is performed using cervical cytology, is a important tool for early diagnosis and effective treatment, according to studies this screening is recommended for women from the age of 21 years regardless of the onset sexual intercourse age, if the patient has a normal cytology it is recommended Screening every 3 years, otherwise monitoring will depend on the cytology´s result and complementary tests.
