Tratamiento local del síndrome genitourinario en la menopausia

Resumen

El síndrome genitourinario en la menopausia está conformado por síntomas vulvovaginales y vesicouretrales, que son consecuencia de cambios epiteliales producidos por el  hipoestrogenismo característico de esta etapa. Su diagnostico es clínico y se establece a partir de síntomas y signos pélvicos y genitourinarios, en un contexto de menopausia o hipoestrogenismo perimenopáusico El tratamiento consta de dos pilares: uno de primera línea, de tipo no hormonal, y uno de segundo línea, a base de hormonas en las que resaltan las bajas dosis de estrógenos tópicos.
