Resumen
La migraña es una condición médica común que afecta a millones de personas en todo el mundo. Aunque en la mayoría de los casos la migraña se puede manejar con medicamentos y cambios en el estilo de vida, es importante identificar las señales de alarma o “red flags”.
Las señales de alarma de migraña son síntomas o signos de alarma que pueden indicar la presencia de una causa subyacente más grave en pacientes con migraña. Estos síntomas son importantes de reconocer, ya que pueden requerir pruebas diagnósticas adicionales para descartar otras enfermedades o trastornos neurológicos graves.
Entre las señales de alarma de la migraña se encuentran los síntomas neurológicos focales, cefaleas de aparición reciente en personas mayores, cefaleas que empeoran con el esfuerzo físico, cefaleas asociadas a fiebre, entre otros.
Es importante destacar que, si se presentan señales de alarma de migraña, se debe acudir a un especialista en neurología para que realice una evaluación completa y determine si es necesario realizar pruebas diagnósticas adicionales. De esta manera, se puede establecer un diagnóstico preciso y brindar un tratamiento adecuado para la migraña y cualquier otra afección subyacente.
