Resumen
El nódulo pulmonar solitario, corresponde a un hallazgo incidental frecuente en las imágenes radiológicas de tórax, el cual se encuentra en aumento en los últimos años. Puede presentarse tanto en pacientes sintomáticos como en asintomáticos, y se asocia a una amplia gama de etiologías, tanto benignas como malignas. Existen ciertos factores de riesgo, como la edad o el tabaquismo, y características específicas del nódulo relacionadas a su tamaño, crecimiento y aspecto radiológico, que se asocian fuertemente con enfermedad maligna. En la actualidad, el abordaje del nódulo pulmonar se encuentra normado por diversas guías internacionales de manejo, las cuales concuerdan en la necesidad de una adecuada estratificación del riesgo individual para plantear las opciones diagnósticas, terapéuticas y de seguimiento. El modelo de probabilidad de malignidad de Mayo Clinic continúa siendo el método más aceptado para esta función en pacientes con y sin factores de riesgo.
